In October 2026, Frontex (the EU border agency) and European travel-trade bodies warned of more than 150 unofficial websites offering ETIAS, some using EU symbols. Because no application is processed before launch, any fee paid today buys nothing. When ETIAS opens, apply only on the official EU website or app.
Specific to Singapore citizens
Citizens only, not residents
ETIAS follows the passport, not where you live. A Singapore permanent resident or Employment Pass holder travelling on an Indian, Chinese, Filipino or Indonesian passport needs a Schengen visa, and ETIAS will not replace it. One on a Malaysian, Japanese or Korean passport will need ETIAS like a Singaporean.
Family trips
Every traveller needs their own ETIAS, children included. Under-18s pay nothing, but the application is still compulsory, and each one is linked to that child's passport.
Passport renewal
ETIAS is tied to the passport you register. Renew your passport and you need a new ETIAS, even if the old one had years left.
Direct flights
Flying direct to a Schengen hub such as Paris, Frankfurt, Munich, Amsterdam or Zurich? That airport is where your EES registration takes place.
The basics, in short
- Passport issued under 10 years ago, valid 3 months after you leave.
- 90 days in any 180, all Schengen countries together.
- ETIAS at launch: €20, valid 3 years or until the passport expires.
